Biography

Perihan Elif Ekmekci studied medicine and medical ethics at Ankara University (MD 1995, PhD 2014) She was assigned to the assistant professor position in 2015. Dr. Ekmekci served as Head of European Union Department of Ministry of Health (2006-2015), and was appointed as a member of European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control Agency (ECDC) Advisory Committee (2009-2015).

Dr. Ekmekci has been to Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School (Aug-Feb 2013) as Fogarty International fellow scientist. She has been to University College of London Tanaka Business School (2006), National Public Health Institute of Netherlands “Public Health Problems In EU Countries” (2007), Western Institutional Review Board Fellows Program in bioethics and ethics committee administration (2016) as fellow. Dr. Ekmekci has been involved in LLP-LDV-VETPRO-07-TR-0001 “Enhancement of home care for diabetic foot patients in Turkey” project as principle investigator and 113K444 “Right to health of Roma people in the context of Medical ethics” as researcher, and UK/07/LLP-LdV/TOI-040 “Peer Implementation project” as Turkey national member.

Perihan Elif Ekmekci teaches history of medicine and ethics in School of Medicine at TOBB ETU Faculty of medicine since 2014. She has several publications on history of medicine and Ethics in various journals and chapters in selected books.
