Biography

Dr. Verda TUNALIGIL currently holds position as the Founding Director of the Research and Development Unit at the Turkish MoH Health Directorate of İstanbul with responsibilities to oversee entire R&D activity in the provision of Istanbul’s health care services. This recent initiative aims to facilitate international collaborations and networks, promote advancements in public health and medical sciences, and to launch foremost innovations in health. Dr. TUNALIGIL received her Medical Doctor diploma in 1990 from Istanbul University, Cerrahpasa Medical School. In 2001, she graduated from Harvard University, School of Public Health, Department of Health Policy and Management, where public health professionals are trained in areas that include epidemiology, biostatistics, health care finance and economics, with emphasis on the changing medical needs of diverse populations, Dr. Tunaligil’s main focus was the organizational structure and financial management of health care delivery systems, health policy issues, complex humanitarian emergencies, war and public health, disaster management, leadership and negotiation skills.
